CPA and Owner of J Allen & Associates

Jennifer Allen began preparing tax returns in 1997 part-time to earn some extra money. She continued doing the work until 2003 when she started working full-time for a small accounting firm. In 2009 Jennifer began doing work with a few small businesses on the side and helped them grow their businesses. In 2011 she became an Endorsed Local Provider for the Dave Ramsey Show and her business began to take off.

She started working with individuals to get them out of debt and once out of debt how to invest their funds going forward in addition to assisting them with their taxes. In 2017 she purchased another firm essentially doubling the size of her firm, at the time. With that came the addition of new staff members, Tracy and Alicia.

In 2019, Jennifer became a certified Profit First Professional. She coaches clients on how to implement Profit First, a popular cash management and profit-focused system, into their businesses. In addition, Jennifer helps companies and individuals with strategic tax planning and tax preparation, debt reduction and legacy planning.

Tracy Barbeito

Tracy Barbeito first met Jennifer Allen in 2005 when they worked together at another CPA firm. Fast forward to 2017, and Tracy joined Jennifer at her new firm J Allen & Associates in Frederick, MD.

Tracy prepares tax returns, does client bookkeeping and handles a variety of work on behalf of our company, as well as for our valued clients – such as creating new client accounts, doing essential research, making sure all tax documents are properly prepared for our clients’ reviews, processing the returns (e-filing) and reconciling any outstanding issues with filings.

Tracy considers her role to be a little bit of everything – and we couldn’t do what we do without her!

In Tracy’s spare time, she enjoys riding and showing her horses.

Alicia Schwartzbeck

Alicia Schwartzbeck’s bookkeeping experience dates back to 2002 when she graduated from Hood College. She started working for J Allen & Associates in 2017 when Jennifer opened her tax and accounting practice.

Alicia enjoys being able to help our clients get their taxes and bookkeeping in order, so they truly feel more in control of their financial lives. And we love the TLC Alicia brings to our clients!

In Alicia’s spare time, she manages bookkeeping for her husband’s construction business, as well as for Sass – a women’s lifestyle magazine serving the Frederick and Western MD areas. She also loves spending time showing her horse on the AQHA show circuit.

Mary Lawson

Mary grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and started her accounting career in high school working for a CPA for 5 years. Mary then moved to Michigan and worked in several other industries while working on earning her degrees and having a family.
She then got back into the accounting industry in 2004 working for an accounting office and then a CPA firm for the last 20 years. She earned her MBA in Business Management. Mary went to work for Intuit (Turbo Tax) as a tax preparer and Quality Review Analyst in 2021.
Mary is an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice in all 50 states. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her grandkids, gardening and attending concerts.

Cassidy Cratty

Cassidy is a self-proclaimed customer service enthusiast with a track record of delivering world-class experiences to clients. Her experience in the insurance sector has equipped her with a profound understanding of client needs and the ability to tailor solutions that go beyond expectations. Cassidy is committed to helping clients realize their personal and professional dreams by achieving their financial goals. Having recently moved back home to Frederick, Maryland after a decade in Tacoma, Washington, Cassidy has been enjoying spending time with her family, friends, and coaching her daughter’s soccer team.
